Beat the scorching heat this season by engaging in some fun summer water activities close to our beautiful beaches in Hong Kong.  From wakeboarding, wakesurfing to SUP, try out these trending summer activities for your best season ever.

A combination of snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding, this exhilarating water sport involves coasting on the waves created by the wake of a speedboat. This high-impact sport requires the rider to be strapped into boots and bindings. The rider will be towed up to 80 feet behind a speeding boat.

  •   Riders should keep their feet on the board and steer it in the style of a snowboarder.
  •   Beginners should use a larger wakeboard which has one or more larger rear fins.
  •   Suitable for those with a decent level of physical fitness.
  •   Keep your core tight and be prepared to get wet!

Wakesurfing is relatively more accessible, as riders only need to hold on to the rope for getting up, before surfing the wave behind the boat.  Unlike wakeboarding, staying barefoot on a board would do for wakesurfing. As the wakesurfers are only riding 10 feet from a slower-moving boat, it’s easier to take better pictures from the boat - making it a trending instagrammable summer sport!

  • Wakesurfing is relatively easier, the life vest will help you to float in the water as you place your heels on the board.
  • Hold onto the tow rope and let the boat do the work.
  • Let go of the rope when you feel the tension on the rope.
  • Keep your feet shoulder width apart.

Stand up paddle boarding or SUP is a combination of surfing and kayaking. This activity involves standing on the board and navigating the water with the paddles.

  • The challenge is to get the hang of staying on your board.
  • Stay away from aggressive sea waves and practice at a lake on your first few trips.
  • Start to paddle at your own pace once you feel comfortable with staying on the board.

Learning new things can get frustrating at times, but these action-packed water activities will surely keep you cool during this hot summer.
